Secretary of the Media Workers’ Association of Grenada (MWAG), Mr. Rae Roberts is attending a workshop in Taiwan.

According to the local Embassy of the Republic of China, Roberts, who leaves here on Tuesday, will attend a workshop on community development and tourism industry in Taiwan.

Mr. Roberts is the lone participant from Grenada along several representatives from countries around the world which have diplomatic relations with Taiwan.

The workshop which is organized by the International Co-operation and Development Fund (ICDF) of Taiwan will run from July 29 to August 14.

The workshop aims at sharing the Taiwan experience in social development regarding to its community development and its fostered tourism industry.

Participants will visit different areas in Taiwan as a “study tour” and share with the local county governments about their efforts and experiences in promoting local tourism through constructing community development.

Participants will also meet with the local people from the communities visited to learn about Taiwan people’s daily lives.

You are invited to send a representative to cover the launch of the Cable & Wireless 2004 scholarship programme on Thursday August 26^th, 2004 Public Workers Union conference room from 9.00am. As you know more that 120 students have benefited from the programme and this year an additional 15 students will be added.

The feature address will be given by a graduate from the programme, Ms. Ferdisha Snagg. The other speakers are likely to include a representative from the Ministry of Education, Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless Ian Blanchard among others.

Television Cameras and other media wanting to record the event should get there early to ensure everything is in place prior to the start of the Launch.
